Kim
Dae-seong was conceived in 699 after a man's death,
who had been |
called
Dae-seong. His father was Kim Mun-ryang. (There could
be some |
mysteric
points in the pregancy of him. I guess that...) |
When
he was born, he grabbed his palm tightly for six days.
It was so |
pecular that his father kept his eyes on it. |
On
the seventh day, at last he opened his palm. And there
was a carved |
Chinese letter in his palm. ( It might be ? ) |
As
he was getting older, he liked riding horses and hunting. |
He
was appointed as Prime Minister at the age of 45. |
The
King GyeongDeok decided to revise the temple 'BeopHeungSa' |
in the wish of the prosperity of his kingdom. (BeopHeungSa=>BulGukSa) |
After
retiring the position, Dae-seong was in charge of building
BulGukSa |
in
750. While BulGukSa was being built, he planned and
outlined another |
project,
SeokGulAm. |
Carving
stone was a hard work, but he did devote himself to
it, sometimes |
dreaming a strange dream. (There is an interesting story
on covering |
the top of ceiling) |
As
you see, SeokGulAm is so exquisite that I wonder how
a man could |
go
off that kind of esthetic sense. |
He
died in 774, just before of the completion of the work. |
